While U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that the administration had not received formal notification of Iran’s intent to suspend talks, he suggested that a temporary halt in negotiations could be tolerable. In efforts to uphold the ceasefire, Trump engaged in discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and figures associated with Hezbollah. Lebanon later confirmed that an agreement for a mutual cessation of hostilities, including attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs, had been reached between Israel and Hezbollah. However, Netanyahu cautioned that Israel would persist in targeting Hezbollah should attacks on Israeli civilians continue.

In response, Iran warned that any significant Israeli assault on the Lebanese capital or its southern suburbs would provoke retaliatory actions against Israeli targets.
