US President Donald Trump voiced mixed reactions to Israel’s strike in Doha, which targeted Hamas leaders. While condemning the attack as unhelpful to US and Israeli goals, he maintained that eliminating Hamas remains a “worthy objective.”
Trump said he had tried to alert Qatar about the strike after being informed by the US military but admitted the warning came too late. Stressing that the decision was solely made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump emphasized that Qatar is a “strong ally” and assured its leaders that such incidents would not happen again.
He reiterated his call for the immediate release of hostages and an urgent end to the conflict. Trump added that he spoke with both Netanyahu and Qatar’s leadership, describing both as committed to peace, and confirmed that the US is moving forward with a defense cooperation agreement with Doha.
The attack drew sharp condemnation from Europe and international organizations, with leaders from the UK, France, Spain, Germany, the UN, and the EU all warning that Israel’s actions violated Qatar’s sovereignty and risked broader regional escalation. Calls for a ceasefire and renewed diplomatic efforts were repeated across capitals.
